[Under-the-Radar Startup] is a Seattle-based start up designed to end the frustrations of marketers and their marketing agencies. More and more, marketers are faced with generating cost-effective leads for their businesses. [Under-the-Radar Startup] provides a Google-like service platform to make this happen, thereby addressing the fast growing $5 billion demand generation market.
As a key member of the executive team, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will be the technical visionary for the company and will lead all technical teams to launch this highly innovative platform. He/she must be all things to all people. The CTO must have the ability to inspire young and talented programmers in the morning, and be capable of assuring the most seasoned business partners and clients that our service is reliable, safe, and secure in the evening.
Ideal candidates for the CTO role are brilliant technologists who believe they can change the world. They must be creative, fearless, and passionate about their work. Ideally they will have some understanding of marketing technologies such as Email Service Platforms, as well as a successful track record of designing scalable information architectures, and establishing safe and secure environments for protecting valuable data.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strategy and Planning :
o Identify technology trends and evolving social behaviors that may support or impeded the success if the business
o Establish a governance process that meets government, partner, and company expectations for privacy and security
o Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms for delivering company’s services
o Communicate [Under-the-Radar Startup]’s technology strategy to investors, management staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders.
• Operational oversight :
o Establish and meet [Under-the-Radar Startup]’s strategic & operational technology objectives
o Drive delivery of [Under-the-Radar Startup]’s service platform
o Ensure development of required large, scalable information architectures
o Optimize partnerships with 3rd parties such as email service providers and ISPs
o Ensure strategic hosting relationships
• Communications and Leadership :
o Build and manage technology team
o Become an industry thought leader within demand generation technologies
o Collaborate with professional societies and organizations
QUALIFICATIONS
• 10 + years managing software development teams in a fast paced, high-tech company
• A track record of building web-based applications with compelling user interfaces that customers love
• Experience managing mission critical relationships with 3rd party technology vendors
• Experience working with marketing automation technologies such as Google or Constant Contact is a plus; some understanding of marketing tools is required
• Experience managing secure and scalable IT platforms that support millions of users and billions of data elements
• Demonstrated ability to interpret technology and market trends as a foundation for technology and product roadmaps.
• Strong advocate of open-source mapping application programming interface (API)
• Ability to command a crowd and gain the respect of peers
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
• Bachelors in Computer Science or a related technical field is required; degree from a top ranked university preferred
• Advanced degree(s) in a related technical field is a plus
